Hire-A-Youth:
San Diego’s Hire-A-Youth program provides youth with paid summer jobs, creating a system to help young people gain work experience, build communication skills and develop a strong work ethic that will ensure a stronger workforce for your business. Through this program Hire-A-Youth helps to keep young people in positive and productive settings. This is done by helping youth remain engaged in education, filling summer vacancies and meeting real business needs, and helping the next generation of workers develop job skills that prepare them for future success.
Elisabeth Leon
My name is Elisabeth Leon. I am a 20 year old Hispanic mother of a beautiful son and daughter. I am attending East County Career Center on my path to becoming a border patrol officer. After meeting with Estela de los Rios I was inspired to begin my internship with CSA. My role at CSA was being a bilingual receptionist. My duties included included scheduling appointments, sending faxes, and creating word documents. Through this internship I learned so much about CSA and what they do to help others. It was a really enjoyable experience for me.
Raafat (David) Samuail
Hello El Cajon! My name is Raafat, but people call me David, and I am delighted to be a media intern for CSA San Diego County. I was born in Bagdad and came from Iraq to Turkey to El Cajon. I have lived here for 2 years and 5 months. In my country I worked at a computer company for 3 years as a volunteer. Therefore, I have extensive experience working on computers. I am attending Grossmont College and majoring in Cyber Security. My future plans is to work for the FBI. In my spare time, you can find me involved researching the news especially in the field of technology. I enjoy attending college and being involved in my community. As an intern here at CSA, my goal has been to build a website that is attractive to the reader. I have enjoyed expressing my thoughts, my ideas and my work. My experience working with others and observing the value of the work CSA does has been very educational. Sharing my knowledge has been very enjoyable. I hope that my artistic approach to express CSA’s website will be a pleasant experience for others. As for me, it has been an inspiring internship and I highly recommend to my community all the work that CSA San Diego does to fight for justice and social change.
