Democracy for All
CSA participated in the redistricting issue with the Latino Redistricting Committee (LRC). This committee was a collaborative effort to engage San Diego’s Latino population within the dialogue of the California Citizens Redistricting Commission. LRC aimed to do this by bringing unity to the Latino community and creating advocacy for representation. As an advocate for the San Diego Latino population, LRC assisted with the redistricting from the city to state level. This initiative was to increase civic participation in underrepresented communities. LRC was able to bring San Diego’s civic culture and policy environment more in line with the county’s emerging demographic profile.
CSA encourages educational workshops to assist communities in becoming U.S. citizens. In July 2007 we completed an educational workshop with over 40 immigrants interested in pursuing U.S. citizenship and voter rights! Updated workshops will be available on our website as they are provided paths to citizenship.
